Hendry County is located on Lake Okeechobee's southwestern shore. It is home of LaBelle's famous Swamp Cabbage Festival held every February. Hendry County is among the top in amount of citrus trees harvested of any Florida county. Hendry is also the home to large cattle ranches, thousands of acres of state forest, and wildlife management areas. Some of its communities include LaBelle, Clewiston, and Felda.
Hendry County was established in 1923 and named after Captain Francis Asbury Hendry, an early settler and the cattle king of South Florida. It is 1,189 square miles and has a population of over 40,000.

If you are a new Florida resident, you are required to register your vehicle within ten days and get a Florida drivers license within 30 days. If you have an out-of-state drivers license and it has not expired beyond 30 days you can convert your license without taking a written or road test. If you need a drivers license for the first time you must complete a State of Florida authorized four-hour Drug and Alcohol (DATA) Course and Permit Test on road signs and road rules.
